The off shoulder dresses has evolved much, and has somehow remained a yet still classic and sensual garment. Every century since then has seen its likes in one variation or the other, but it became main stream only during the 19th century, when women gained more freedom and security to express their independent and strong personalities through the dresses they wore. During the 'Flower Era' or the age of the Hippies, the off shoulder dress and the bell bottoms gained popularity unlike any other period.
