Knit: The simplest patterns of this dress could be ones in knit wear. The cable knit look is nice for both, casual or otherwise. Keep in mind that it isn't the best idea for a very formal look though. Crochet: A few notches higher than regular knit would be the crochet dress. A definite winner where looks are concerned, with this weave you can pull off a casual as well as a semi-formal look, depending on how you wear it.
