Most phone companies let you block caller ID on a per call basis, on every call to a particular number, or on each call that is made from your phone line.

A toll free call capture system uses what is called ANI, Automatic Number Identification. This is similar technology to what is used by emergency 911 services. It captures the caller id information whether the caller has a blocked number or not. Frequently used in conjunction with the caller ID capture is name and address capture.
